I am the founder of the network ‘Space Evidence for Human Rights’, SEHR, based in Leiden, The Netherlands. This Network was created around interdisciplinary seminars and research directed to optimize the use of satellite data in order to advance accountability for violations of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. Besides other (international) partners, EUSPA participated in the SEHR activities. This led to the inclusion of this specific use of satellite data in the framework of the user consultation process. It provides the users a forum to express their needs and to seek cooperation with EUSPA and the European space programme.
My background in international law and working experience in the (public) space sector led me to the use of satellite data as evidence in Human Rights and Humanitarian Law violations.
