Sven Tahon has been involved for over 30 years in EU and International fisheries monitoring, control & surveillance (MCS).
First, as a national fisheries enforcement officer, he joined the European Commission (DG MARE) in 2001 and the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA) in 2007. Currently, he is responsible at EFCA for the implementation and the integration of innovative surveillance and control technologies in the operational fisheries control environment. This includes the promotion and management of EO, vessel detection and fisheries activity monitoring technologies feeding into the creation of a worldwide integrated maritime picture and intelligence capacity in support of the activities of Member States, DG MARE and EFCA’s own operations.
